Last week Ed Lee won chocolate from Beerntsen’s Candies and kringle, the official pastry of Wisconsin, in his wager with Mayor James Schmitt from Green Bay, Wisc. This week the Mayor has set his sights on Mayor Patrick Cannon from Charlotte, N.C., the hometown of the Panthers, who are hosting Sunday’s playoff matchup.
This week’s friendly wager involves the losing mayor wearing the opposing teams colors at the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Washington, D.C. and the exchange of Carolina barbeque pork or or Boudin sourdough and Ghirardelli chocolate from San Francisco.
Mayor Lee expressed confidence in his chances after the 49ers defeated the Green Bay Packers 23-20 to advance to the next round of the playoffs last week.
“The 49ers are firing on all cylinders—the defense is playing at a whole new level and the offense is really clicking,” Lee said in a statement. “I fully expect to place a Niners cap on Mayor Cannon’s head later this month.”
Sunday’s game is scheduled for 10:05 a.m. PST.
